4Bones: Palestrina to Gershwin

The trombone is a surprisingly versatile instrument, found in ensembles from church to jazz club and orchestras to brass bands. It is one of the oldest brass instruments, starting life in the 15th century but the modern trombone has changed to allow a richer more mellow tone to be produced.

The 4bones trombone quartet will entertain you with music from across the ages and styles. We will include classical pieces from Handel, Bach & Bruckner and music from shows, films, and a nod to ragtime.

Each member of our quartet has a wealth of experience playing in local bands, groups and orchestras.  Come along and be prepared to be surprised at how great a group of four trombones can sound. As John Suchet (Classic FM) told us when he heard one of our recordings “I love the sound of 4 trombones — so mellow and a nice rhythm too”.
