Superb film! Set in 1915, life at the Paridier farm has changed dramatically since the men of the family left home to fight. The women left behind struggle with all the workload. When harvest time comes, they decide to hire a farmhand but no man is available. The mayor then recommends an orphan named Francine Riant and this soon appears a blessing, as the girl proves perfect. The women form an effective team, who make the most of the situation. One day, one of the sons comes back and falls in love with Francine. In French, English subtitles.
